We have some really good friends of ours that are going thru a tough time right now. For the sake of some privacy here we will call them "Hef" and "Karen".
Hef is needing a liver transplant and found out yesterday that he has been taken off the roller coaster ride called "the list". He has been on this list for MONTHS and MONTHS and we were all expecting the call at any time saying it was his turn for a new chance on life. So, after one little kidney test they tell him he is off the list. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Is this really a one chance and you're out type of deal? The "good news" out of all of this is that when he is put back on the list....when he passes his next kidney test.....he will go to the same spot he was before.
I am not going to pretend like I have any knowledge about how any of this works but it seems to me that this is a little drastic. I know they can't operate if his body isn't ready but couldn't they have just told him that he will need to retake the test and not just call the dude at work and tell him he is off the list? I just don't think any of it is fair. It breaks my heart and pisses me off. I can't even imagine what is going thru their heads right now but I hope they know they are loved and there are so many people out there praying for them.
So, to my prayer warriors out there.......start to praying that when he takes his next kidney test that he passes AND that they transplant him during the time that he is healthiest. I also think we should pray for patience and understanding as well as peace of mind for them. This whole process has been such a trying time for them and while they have faith that God will work it out, it is getting harder for them to see the silver lining. This couple are "good peeps" as we call them with an adorable family. Please start praying!!!

6 month stats
Much to my surprise 25% of the boys Bryson's age weigh more than him!
Weight: 18lbs 10oz (75th percentile)
Height: 27 3/4 inches (90th)
Head: HUGE...(95th!)
When the Dr. was going over these stats with me today I said I couldn't believe that he wasn't at the very top of the weight chart.....to which his reply was "Lori, it's his head. It makes him look huge." Nice.
Other than that the boy is all good. He enjoyed his sweet potatoes tonight and is looking forward to trying all sorts of new stuff!!!
In other totally unrelated news: I HATE MY DOGS RIGHT NOW!
We came home (after finally joining the 21st century by getting a new tv) to find that the oh-so-adorable cupcakes that little miss made yesterday were no longer around. Instead there were just paper plates and foil left. So, Maddi and Chi-Chi have 16 cupcakes in their stomachs. Plus, there was a big pile of shit on the floor. Looks like someone needed to make some room for more freaking cupcakes.
My sister Meg just came over and noticed that Maddi has pink frosting under her eyes and on her face. BUSTED!!!!

Can you believe it?
Yesterday the little guy turned 6 months old! He celebrated by eating his first jar of veggies....green beans. He didn't love them but he didn't hate them either. Then we cheered on the Red Raiders with some good friends of ours. Can't wait to hear how much the chunk weighs on Tuesday!

Big week
So, this was a big week in the Bettencourt household and we didn't even plan it that way.
Ramsey started school, quit sucking her fingers and no longer wears a nite-nite diaper! For all of those accomplishments she got a Leapster!! She is so pumped up about it.....we are so proud of our big girl! The fact that she is no longer sucking her fingers is HUGE, I can't even tell you how many times a day we were saying "no fingers". She just made up her mind that she didn't need them anymore....plus a little bribery always helps!
I had my ct-scan done and all is good with Henry. He is much smaller than my dr. originally thought so that is a good thing! Plus, I actually marched my butt to the gym 5 times this week!!!! Hopefully that will pay off at my weigh-in tomorrow.
Bryson, well he didn't really do too much this week except drool, eat, poop and smile! He goes to see his pediatrician on Tues for his 6-MONTH appt! We can't believe he is already that old....he is getting better at sitting up but rolling over is still a challenge for the chunk. He tries but he has a lot of junk to roll over at one time!
As for Dustin, we found out a few weeks ago that his promotion was going to go thru and yesterday he and his boss actually worked out some of the kinks. I am so excited for him and can't wait til he sells the hell out of some hernia mesh!
After all of that we are looking forward to the weekend and a nap!

Just out of curiosity....
On Tuesday I decided to measure Bryson and Ramsey's thighs to see which were bigger. To my surprise Rams had The Chunk beat by 1/2 an inch.
While feeding The Chunk today I decided there was no way in hell that his thighs were smaller than hers. So, after he ate I busted that tape measure out again. This time both kids were much more cooperative and I am pleased to announce that his thighs really are bigger than hers!!!! Only by a 1/4 inch but still, he has earned his new nickname for sure!
Why I decided to measure my thighs afterward I will never know......all I know is that I will either "drink" my dinner tonight or eat a big ol' bowl of lettuce. I guess it is good that I am putting that gym membership to use bc if I would have done that a few weeks ago I think you would have to pick me up off the floor right now. Now that you all have such a pleasant thought in your heads I will call it a day in bloggerland.
