Big Boy Bryson and little bity Ramsey

Bryson could not more opposite than his "big" sister. Check out the size of that head and those cheeks!!! His hair still has a red tint to it but is becoming more brown with lots of curls on top. In my (humble and not biased) opinion he is pretty darn cute! He is loving his baby food...any orange he loves, anything green is ok with.

As I was going thru some of Ramsey's baby clothes to give away and sell she decided she wanted to wear one of the outfits. Keep in mind this is an outfit for an 18-24 month old. The shorts are actually supposed to be pants and the sweater should cover her belly when her arms are raised. The point is, her waist is still that small and so are her thighs!!! She looks so much older to me in these pictures, I can't believe how fast she is growing up.

My Little Pony.....

I love picking up Ramsey and her BFF Ava from school in the afternoons....they always make me laugh all the way home with their conversations.

Today, Ramsey kept talking about the ponies that Ava was wearing. I thought it was a little strange because I knew what she was wearing and didn't remember any ponies on it (I couldn't see the dress because she was in the 3rd row). Ramsey kept talking about it once we got home so I politely told her that Ava didn't have any ponies on her dress.

Ramsey responded with "Yes she does Mommy, they're right here!" as she then proceeded to lift up Ava's dress and show me her underwear. Nice.

She apparently also learned the song "Where is Thumbkin" today because she has been singing it all afternoon. I am just glad she knows a new song to throw in the mix!!!!

Stupid people.....

So last night Dustin and I were in bed trying to find something on TV to fall asleep to. We landed on a show on Discovery Health about a woman that was taken to the hospital in severe pain.....because she was in LABOR. The catch was she didn't even know she was pregnant! REALLY? You mean to tell me that for 9 months you have been growing a baby inside you and you really didn't know?? 5 months of that the baby has been kicking you and for the first 3 months you probably felt at least a little tired, maybe bloated? Maybe you had morning sickness for a few months and that was perfectly normal for you. And you really thought you were just putting on weight....that your stomach was getting hard and would tighten up at strange times? Did it ever occur to you that your cankles were more than just all the salt you ate the night before?

Where was your husband through all of this....oh, he was there, he just didn't notice either! At the hospital when they told him she was in labor he told them they had the wrong guy. Then when the baby was born all he said was "we don't have any diapers". WHAT THE HELL?

Get this.....her baby was 8 POUNDS! So, it wasn't like she was delivering early or that it was a small baby. She was quoted as saying she thought it was a tumor. Funny, I didn't know tumors could kick.

Stupid, stupid people exist in this world and I have done some stupid things in my life. HOWEVER, if I didn't know I was pregnant until I went into labor I give all of you permission to take me out back. IDIOT.

Ah Ah Ah

Ah ah ah.....Ramsey sings these three syllables over and over and over again everyday (she got it from "the little mermaid"...when Arial gives her voice over to the sea witch). It really is cute however it gets stuck in my head which is rather annoying. Today she decided to bless all of Market Street with her (oh-so-great) singing abilities....we got some mixed reviews but I think one man said it best when he said "Does she know any other words to that song?"

On another note, she seems to really love school. She was taught how to say "Hola, me llamo Ramsey" (at least that is what the sign on the classroom door said). Every time I say it to her she looks at me like I am crazy. I guess I shouldn't expect too much, she still doesn't have the English language down yet why would I expect her to start learning Spanish?

GREAT NEWS!!

My friend "Heff" and "Karen" received some GREAT NEWS today! Heff is back on the transplant list! He basically went up to the hospital with 3 sheets of notes and started talking to anyone that would listen. After only 1/2 a page they knew they had a fighter on their hands and decided to get him back on that list! PRAISE GOD!!!! Now, I still have homework for you guys.....pray for him to move on up that list quickly (he is #5 in Ft. Worth and #8 in Dallas), for his liver to keep up and his kidney's to catch up to speed.

As for the Bettencourts....we have nothing to complain about. Ramsey had a great day in school and Bryson and I enjoyed spending the day with Auntie M (we love it when she has a day off to spend with us!).

I have a Girls Night Out this weekend and I couldn't be more excited about it. I tried on a few different outfits today and decided I still have about 15 more pounds to lose before I will be happy.....15 lbs, a tummy tuck, lipo and whatever else can be lifted, tucked or sucked outta me! Anyway, I have a great husband for letting me have this night with my girls and we can't wait!

Life is NOT fair

We have some really good friends of ours that are going thru a tough time right now. For the sake of some privacy here we will call them "Hef" and "Karen".

Hef is needing a liver transplant and found out yesterday that he has been taken off the roller coaster ride called "the list". He has been on this list for MONTHS and MONTHS and we were all expecting the call at any time saying it was his turn for a new chance on life. So, after one little kidney test they tell him he is off the list. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Is this really a one chance and you're out type of deal? The "good news" out of all of this is that when he is put back on the list....when he passes his next kidney test.....he will go to the same spot he was before.

I am not going to pretend like I have any knowledge about how any of this works but it seems to me that this is a little drastic. I know they can't operate if his body isn't ready but couldn't they have just told him that he will need to retake the test and not just call the dude at work and tell him he is off the list? I just don't think any of it is fair. It breaks my heart and pisses me off. I can't even imagine what is going thru their heads right now but I hope they know they are loved and there are so many people out there praying for them.

So, to my prayer warriors out there.......start to praying that when he takes his next kidney test that he passes AND that they transplant him during the time that he is healthiest. I also think we should pray for patience and understanding as well as peace of mind for them. This whole process has been such a trying time for them and while they have faith that God will work it out, it is getting harder for them to see the silver lining. This couple are "good peeps" as we call them with an adorable family. Please start praying!!!

This is what happens when mommy gets ready, I get buried under whatever sis can get her hands on. "Is it hot in here?"

Eagerly awaiting his sweet potatoes.

6 month stats

Much to my surprise 25% of the boys Bryson's age weigh more than him!

Weight: 18lbs 10oz (75th percentile)
Height: 27 3/4 inches (90th)
Head: HUGE...(95th!)

When the Dr. was going over these stats with me today I said I couldn't believe that he wasn't at the very top of the weight chart.....to which his reply was "Lori, it's his head. It makes him look huge." Nice.

Other than that the boy is all good. He enjoyed his sweet potatoes tonight and is looking forward to trying all sorts of new stuff!!!

In other totally unrelated news: I HATE MY DOGS RIGHT NOW!

We came home (after finally joining the 21st century by getting a new tv) to find that the oh-so-adorable cupcakes that little miss made yesterday were no longer around. Instead there were just paper plates and foil left. So, Maddi and Chi-Chi have 16 cupcakes in their stomachs. Plus, there was a big pile of shit on the floor. Looks like someone needed to make some room for more freaking cupcakes.

My sister Meg just came over and noticed that Maddi has pink frosting under her eyes and on her face. BUSTED!!!!

Can you believe it?

Yesterday the little guy turned 6 months old! He celebrated by eating his first jar of veggies....green beans. He didn't love them but he didn't hate them either. Then we cheered on the Red Raiders with some good friends of ours. Can't wait to hear how much the chunk weighs on Tuesday!
(Thanks to Holly for telling me about the Tech jersey's at Walmart, best $13 we have spent in a long time!)

Big week

So, this was a big week in the Bettencourt household and we didn't even plan it that way.

Ramsey started school, quit sucking her fingers and no longer wears a nite-nite diaper! For all of those accomplishments she got a Leapster!! She is so pumped up about it.....we are so proud of our big girl! The fact that she is no longer sucking her fingers is HUGE, I can't even tell you how many times a day we were saying "no fingers". She just made up her mind that she didn't need them anymore....plus a little bribery always helps!

I had my ct-scan done and all is good with Henry. He is much smaller than my dr. originally thought so that is a good thing! Plus, I actually marched my butt to the gym 5 times this week!!!! Hopefully that will pay off at my weigh-in tomorrow.

Bryson, well he didn't really do too much this week except drool, eat, poop and smile! He goes to see his pediatrician on Tues for his 6-MONTH appt! We can't believe he is already that old....he is getting better at sitting up but rolling over is still a challenge for the chunk. He tries but he has a lot of junk to roll over at one time!

As for Dustin, we found out a few weeks ago that his promotion was going to go thru and yesterday he and his boss actually worked out some of the kinks. I am so excited for him and can't wait til he sells the hell out of some hernia mesh!

After all of that we are looking forward to the weekend and a nap!

Just out of curiosity....

On Tuesday I decided to measure Bryson and Ramsey's thighs to see which were bigger. To my surprise Rams had The Chunk beat by 1/2 an inch.

While feeding The Chunk today I decided there was no way in hell that his thighs were smaller than hers. So, after he ate I busted that tape measure out again. This time both kids were much more cooperative and I am pleased to announce that his thighs really are bigger than hers!!!! Only by a 1/4 inch but still, he has earned his new nickname for sure!

Why I decided to measure my thighs afterward I will never know......all I know is that I will either "drink" my dinner tonight or eat a big ol' bowl of lettuce. I guess it is good that I am putting that gym membership to use bc if I would have done that a few weeks ago I think you would have to pick me up off the floor right now. Now that you all have such a pleasant thought in your heads I will call it a day in bloggerland.

First day of school!

Here is the miss on her first day of school!

She wore her name on her shirt so the teachers would know it.....there are only 4 girls in her class so I am pretty sure they would have known it regardless. She seems to like it so far although she was far more concerned with listening to her princess songs in the car than talking to Auntie M and me about it. Maybe Thursday she will have more stories to tell. All I know is that those 5 hours flew by way to fast!
