Apparently the key to my little girls heart (or to get her to go potty) is to fill a paper bag full of junk toys from Wal-mart, call it the Potty Prizes and she will go in the potty all day long!!! She has done so well since Sunday and even went in the potty on an outing to Target! So, hopefully we are on our way to diaper free days for her! She might just get her Leapster (the ultimate prize) before her birthday!!!
Today I took the kids to a local farm with the neighborhood moms group. Ramsey absolutely LOVED the animals and had a great time playing with the other kids. I thought she might be scared of the sheep, goats and cows that they were feeding but she jumped right on in there and had a ball giving them bread. I was also scared that I would have an asthma/allergy attack but I didn't touch ANYTHING and used the hand sanitizer at least a dozen times. I wasn't able to take any pictures for fear of Ramsey "loving" the animals too much...she doesn't know how hard she can squeeze...so no pictures this time. Bryson enjoyed the morning outside.
It was a great outing until we were about to leave. As I was getting Bryson in the car he started screaming, I think it was a mixture of wanting out of the car seat and some hunger thrown on top. Ramsey meanwhile found a bag of gummy worms in the car that she wanted to eat. No big deal, right?!?!!?! As I was getting a bottle ready for Bryson I look over at Ramsey and she has big ol' tears in her eyes, her was face turning red and her hand was in her mouth. I quickly figured out she was choking on her candy. As I ran around the car to help her I get there just in time to see her throw up all over herself. Poor thing was very upset and threw the gummy worms down as if it was their fault. It all happened in about 5 seconds but I don't think she will be wanting anything gummy for awhile. Good news is after we came home and took baths all is right in the Bettencourt world again.
Until next time...............
By the way, Dustin is home today with some sort of stomach virus, I wish I would have stolen some of that hand sanitizer from the farm I think I might run out here.

Potty Training 101
Yes, it is true...Ramsey is STILL not potty trained. We have gone round and round with her on trying to get her interested in it but it just hasn't clicked with her. So, I decided today was the day we were going to sit home all day and try to figure it all out. Dustin was heading out of town and my pantry and fridge were stocked so I saw no reason why we had to leave the house for any long period of time over the next few days. The plan was to stay in and go thru as many accidents as we had to!!! (I am still not convinced she is even ready to do this but we are going to give it our best effort).
Well, Dustin came home around lunch time and suggested we all go grab a bite to eat before he hit the road. Before we left Ramsey did go potty so I was feeling somewhat comfortable in a quick road trip in big girl panties. We made a super quick stop at Lowe's where she attempted to potty....sat down, wiped, washed her hands but nothing came out. We made it thru lunch at Chick-Fil-A and she was ready to play. I guess we both forgot she was in panties, even though we had be talking about it and asking her a million times if she needed to go. To make a long story short....Ramsey had an accident in the playroom of CFA....while she was peeing she looked up at Dustin and said "It's ok daddy, it's ok". He knew immediately what she was doing and scooped her up and rushed her to me. I was feeding Bryson at the time so I made her stand there while he informed mgmt of the issue. Then Dustin took her the restroom to get cleaned up and calmed down. Within a few seconds CFA employees politely ushered all the kids out of the play area so they could clean it up!!! You know those moms were MAD MAD MAD that there kids couldn't play...ugh. Needless to say, we packed up our stuff and got out of there as soon as possible. Poor Ramsey was so upset.
Three good things did come out of this:
1. She realized she shouldn't have done that...she was SO upset about it (in the past she has always just completely blown accidents off). She seemed excited to be wearing panties out and about as we have never allowed that before.
2. We realized that we have to be super diligent. Seriously, what were we thinking? Apparently the sleep deprivation has gone to my head. I feel so stupid. Talk about putting pressure on the kid.
3. However, it is good to know that the CFA crew responded so quickly and got all the other kids out of there. It was a VERY small amount on the floor but as soon as we told them, 30 seconds after it happened, they were in there cleaning it all up.
Anyway, that's my exciting potty training story of the day. I am sure there will be more as the weekend ensues....remind me why I decided to do this while Dustin was out of town????? Once again, it has to be the lack of sleep.
Love to you all!!!
Lori
BTW, Bryson just continued to drink his bottle up like he didn't have a care in the world! He was the only one that enjoyed lunch today!
And yes, I promise pictures soon!

First blog
Hello!
Dustin and I finally figured out that we are SO not good at sending out mass emails updated all of our loved ones on our lives so we decided to try the blog thing. We are somewhat doubtful I will keep this up but I promise to give it a good try!!! I am new at this so bare with me as I get started!
If you are reading this you should probably already know what I am about to say but just in case there are some random folks out there that stumble upon this page I thought I would give you a brief rundown of our background.
Dustin and I met in college at Texas Tech, married in Aug. 2002 and had our first child, Ramsey, in June of 2005. Just 6 weeks ago we added Bryson to the family and couldn't be happier with life right now.
Ramsey has been an amazing sister so far....her latest saying that we hear at least 50 times a day is "He's so cute" shortly followed by her kissing him. She wants to see her brother at all times and by seeing him she really means 2 inches away from his face and most likely she is again kissing him. He for sure has a second mommy...I can't wait to see how this plays out when they are older. In fact I fear the day he figures out he can use his arms or legs as weapons because I have a feeling he will be swatting his sister away.
We feel so blessed right now. We have great family, amazing friends and 2 wonderful kids. We look forward to sharing our journey with all of you.
