FC Unicorns

There really isn't too much to say about our first soccer game.
We didn't "win" but we are in a league where there are no winners or losers....lame.
Ramsey didn't score a goal but she hung in there and only cried once on the field.
However, she DID run off the field while playing to kiss Bryson.
Our team didn't kick it in the wrong goal so we were thrilled about that!
And a few pictures for the grandparents......
Ramsey kickin' it in.

Family weekend

Here are some pictures from our weekend in Round Rock as well as one from my sisters baby shower! We had such a great time seeing Uncle Rob and Auntie Ang again, it had been WAY too long. We love and miss them but are so proud of the life they have created in North Carolina.
This is what your face looks like after you stuff it full of Round Rock Donuts.
Enjoying a nice Sunday afternoon outside.

Uncle Rob with the kids. He hung the moon as far as Ramsey is concerned, she LOVES him!
Playing in Lolli's Tupperware cabinet.......Ramsey calls it her house.

At Meg's baby shower.

On the way to Round Rock, after eating M&M's from Meg's shower.....I thought they were supposed to melt in your mouth not in your hand OR all over your face.

Sorry these are all out of order, I am way to lazy to try to fix it!

Oh, and you have to check out the pictures from Geoff's Liversary Party here.
How awesome is that cake?!?! My friend Natalie from high school made it and I think it is just amazing what she did!!! If only they would have had a scalple to cut it up!

10 years ago today our dear friend Geoff was fighting for his life in a hospital room.

In order for Geoff to live, unfortunately someone else had to die. That person had no idea when she woke up that fateful morning that she wouldn't live to see the next day. Her family and friends had no idea that they would never get to talk to her, see her or hug her again. It is very sad.......and I am sure the pain from her families loss is still great.

However, I am also sure they would be happy to know that out of her death and their loss, became an amazing story, family and legacy. Because of her, Geoff is celebrating 10 years post-transplant with a beautiful wife and 2 amazing kids by his side!! 10 years ago he was given a second chance because of the self-less act of a complete stranger.

So, my thoughts today are consumed with all the good that can come out of organ donation. Why wouldn't I want someone else to benefit, to LIVE, if it is my time to go? God doesn't need my organs, so when my time comes I hope I can leave them behind for someone else.........so that I can create hope for a person in need.

If you aren't an organ donor, you can go here and sign up: http://www.donatelife.net/
I am a proud card carrier and hope that you are (or will be soon) too!

Congrats Geoff on 10 years!!!! Here's to many, many more!

If I could talk....Part 2

remember this from over a year ago?

Bryson is really starting to communicate more and more with us these days. He is picking up new words but most of the time what he "says" doesn't mean anything to us.

This is what I imagine him saying most of the time......

To Ramsey:

  • One day I am really gonna hit you, I mean a REAL hit, and you aren't going to like it.
  • You are WAY TO LOUD
  • I dance better than you! (but you sing better than me)
  • You should really make yourself useful and get me a snack, you can reach them!
  • Seriously, stop hugging and kissing me. I will NOT take you to prom.
  • I can kick harder than you.

To Me:

  • HURRY UP!
  • Quit singing
  • I HATE getting my diaper changed, just let me go commando!
  • Get it through your thick head, I just want to go OUTSIDE. *****
  • Get off the computer.

To Dustin:

  • HURRY UP!
  • Do we have to watch baseball again tonight?
  • Can you please pick up the dog poop so I can play in the backyard without stepping in it?!?!
  • Get it through your thick head, I just want to go OUTSIDE. *****

To the Dogs:

  • GET OUT OF MY FACE, I will drop some food when I am done.
  • Quit eating my lego's, I don't have many left.
  • Stop sniffing my butt.

******one of the words he says on a very regular basis is OUTSIDE, he is obsessed with the great outdoors! give him a snack, drink and open the door and he is the happiest kid in the world.

Since those words don't come out of his mouth just yet there is a LOT of grunting, pointing, screaming and tantrums occuring in our household these days. It's awesome.

8 days into September

and we are already worn out.

Bryson had his 18mo check-up today....here is how he stacked up!
weight: (only) 24.3 lbs putting him in the 25th percentile
height: 32inches 50-75th%
head: HUGE 90th%
how 'bout his hair in this picture?!?! we can't tame the beast!

Ramsey and her BFF Ava had their "first day of their last year of preschool" today. Ramsey loves her new teachers and is so happy to be back......I am pretty sure we ALL needed the break from each other.

yes, I brush her hair but after a long day of playing it is D.O.N.E.

Praise God I paid extra for the smaller sized backpack this year, she actually carried it out of school all by herself today! Maybe they will let us in kindergarten next year after all!

We have a super busy weekend coming up that includes but is not limited to the following: soccer parade, 1st soccer game, Meg's baby shower, drive to Round Rock, crab boil with the Bettencourts and Pucketts.....and that is just Friday and Saturday!

I've always wanted to be a Soccer Mom

and now that I am one I am pretty much over it. It doesn't help that poor Dustin signed up to be the assistant coach (just bc he is a nice guy) but no one offered to coach so now he is Head Coach......which in turn makes me team manager.

Let's just say that some of our parents are really taking this 4 year old soccer a little too seriously....I overheard one talking to her husband on the phone saying things like "he has never even played the game" and "I can't really tell what they are doing right now"

Dustin was very candid with these parents at the first practice and said that his main goal was to get the girls to understand the BASIC concepts of the game and to have fun. Other than that, we have no real expectations.......isn't that how it should be? If you are trying to raise the next Mia Hamm my suggestion to you would be a private coach and select team, not the freaking city league.

Our first game is on Saturday and as luck would have it we are playing Ramsey's BFF Ava. The FC UNICORNS vs The COSMOS......it is sure to be the greatest soccer game EVER!

One last thing, our uniforms are hideous......clearly men run the soccer uniform world bc no woman in her right mind would pair the blue and yellow jerseys with black shorts for little girls.

inside my head

here is what I am thinking about today....

loving this weather
hoping Bryson's arm doesn't scar from the "Attack of the Ant's '09"
excited about school starting next week!!!!!
bummed that my headache won't go away.
can't stand the sound of Barney's voice.....Ramsey loves PBS now but I can't stand Barney!
looking forward to our road trip to RR next weekend to see family
hoping for a nap today!

that's all I have for now.
